POZNAŃ – A STRONGHOLD OF FURNITURE

15-03-2010

“Finally, a trade fair concept that we like” – these are the comments about MEBLE POLSKA by exhibitors and buyers who participated in the event. This year’s show, held for the first time on new dates at the beginning of the year and in a form of a contracting event, was accepted by the sector. The latest collections and technological solutions were presented by the largest group of furniture manufacturers in Poland. The following companies came back to Poznań after many years of absence: Black Red White, Bydgoskie Fabryki Mebli and Fabryki Mebli Forte. The show hosted market leaders, including Bogatti, Fabryka Mebli Wójcik, Fameg, Gawin, Jadik, Jafra, Klose, Matkowski Meble, Mebin, MSP DĄB, Rameta, Taranko, Tombea, Wintech and many more.

A new zone of contacts

This year’s furniture show was addressed only to traders and, in line with the new concept, it became a place for business talks and establishing contacts between furniture producers and business clients (only furniture buyers). For the first time ever, the exhibitors’ collections were showcased in a modern complex of 5 interconnected pavilions: 7, 7A, 8, 8A and 9. Attractive offers of Polish furniture manufacturers, a reflection of the Polish furniture industry, attracted furniture buyers from all over Europe. Numerous perks for the visitors were an additional asset of the show. These included free admission and free car entry, car parking on the fairgrounds, all-day-long catering services, free invitations for contractors, and many more. An online business planning application made it possible to effectively plan the time spent at the fair and to create a professional schedule of business talks.

Feedback from the industry

The trade fair participants were extremely positive about the new business concept of the show. Their stands were visited by numerous furniture buyers from Poland and Europe and their agendas were full of orders. By moving the show to the beginning of the year exhibitors can promote new designs and collections earlier in the furniture buyers’ showrooms. The buyers, in turn, will have more time to test new offers before placing orders for the second half of the year. New products will also reach showrooms earlier. Companies registered their latest collections that were exhibited at stands with “NEW” signs. MEBLE POLSKA is a step towards promoting Polish furniture as an integrated offer in other European countries, which was also underlined by the sector representatives.

Programme of events – towards “Visual Merchandising”As always, MEBLE POLSKA was accompanied by free-of-charge specialist conferences and seminars. Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie organised workshops in cooperation with the  the Polish Chamber of Commerce of Furniture Manufacturers. During this event, Dr. Marek Borowiński, an expert on design, colour psychology and visual merchandising, offered advice to shop assistants working directly with individual clients in furniture showrooms. Seminars entitled: “TREND DESIGN 2010 – the latest trends in interior decoration” and “How to furnish a furniture showroom to sell more” were very interesting. The Polish Chamber of Commerce of Furniture Manufacturers prepared many interesting events at its stand. They included: talks and panel discussions with sector representatives, discussions regarding the promotion programme for the “Polish Furniture – Confirmed Quality” sign and “All about furniture from the manufacturer to the client” informative and educational presentations. These multimedia presentations held at the Chamber’s stand were very interesting both to exhibitors and to visitors, including employees of furniture companies, manufacturers of furniture textiles and accessories, wholesalers and employees of furniture shops. A press briefing about the new business concept of MEBLE POLSKA was held on the third trade fair day. The participants included: Józef Szyszka, MEBLE POLSKA Director; Andrzej Rybacki, President of the Polish Group of Furniture Buyers; Marek Adamowicz, Office Director of the Polish Chamber of Commerce of Furniture Manufacturers and representatives of KLOSE, TOMBEA, MEBIN. A carnival party evening with numerous attractions was a key event to integrate the sector and to strengthen business contacts in less formal circumstances.
