It is the first time in the almost sixty years of existence of the UEA, the European Furniture Manufacturers Federation, that a representative from an East or Central European Country is elected to its highest office. This election illustrates the increasing importance of the furniture industry in the former communist countries in the eye of western enterpreneurs.
The new elected President wants to use the on-coming European Union Presidency of the Czech Republic to strengthen the position of European furniture industry. He is persuaded in using his influence within a frame of World Furniture Confederation WFC where the UEA is a member.
The next meeting of the representatives of European furniture manufacturing will take place in the Czech Republic during the furniture fair in March 2009. This meeting will be a key meeting for the next period. Demands and expectations of entrepreneurs in furniture manufacturing sector toward European Commission and European Union national governments in order to strengthen their position will be the main subject of discussion.
