In Lithuania several thousand companies of different size produce wood production- sawnwood, wood-based panels, paper, paperboard, furniture, joinery articles etc. However, there are only 900 companies, which are specialized for wood production. 60 of them are considered to be large (have 100 and more employees). 52 thousand people are engaged in the woodworking industry (excluding forest economy).
Association “Lietuvos mediena” unites 110 major wood, furniture and paper production companies and the Lithuanian producers of wood-based panels. These companies represent the three branches of the Lithuanian industry; they produce the biggest part of their main production. The association accumulates and disseminates information about the Lithuanian woodworking market, production and trade activities of its members. |
