Romanian Furniture Manufacturers Association (APMR) is a professional, autonomous, non-governamental and indifferent to politics organization, which was set up in 1992. It is also an organization without profit-oriented activities, with legal status, whose activity is mainly financed by its members.

APMR takes part in the dialogue with the state organizations, trade unions and other factors of the civil society and collaborates with similar home and abroad associations or federations. In order to represent and support in a beneficial way the interests of its members, APMR is a member of the Forestry Patronate Convention, of the Alliance for the Economic Development of Romania, of the Confederation of Romanian Patronate and of the Romanian Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Since July 1st 1995 APMR has been a member of the European Furniture Manufacturers Federation (UEA).

The highest authority which is qualified to manage the Association is the General Assembly. The Council Board, with attributes of unitary co-ordination is the general representation body; the Executive Commitee is part of the Council Board.

The Association's President, who is also the President of the Council Board, is responsible for carring out the Council's decisions and assumes the current management.

The main source for the Association's revenues are the monthly subscriptions, established in accordance with each company turnover. The Association can also receive donations or grants from home or abroad. The revenues are used to finance the activities specified in the Association statute and for the running expenses as well as for equipment purchasing.

At present, APMR has 500 members, of which 260 are furniture producers. The other members are manufacturers of accessories and other materials used in the furniture manufacture process, furniture traders, R&D institutes, etc. The furniture producers associated with APMR carry out more than 55% of the whole Romanian furniture production (and more than 65% of the Romanian furniture export).
